1. Statement of Commitment

3. Who This Policy Applies To 

This policy applies to:
  • All members, visitors, and service users
  • Volunteers and committee members
  • Staff (if applicable)
  • Contractors or third-party providers working with HSS
Everyone is expected to uphold the principles of this policy.
 

4. Our Responsibilities

HSS Will:

  • Provide inclusive and accessible services for all members of the community
  • Ensure our facilities are welcoming to people from all backgrounds
  • Promote equal opportunities in volunteer recruitment and engagement
  • Offer support and reasonable adjustments to those with additional needs
  • Challenge and take action against any form of discriminatory behaviour

5. Volunteering and Participation

All volunteering roles are open to anyone with the required skills and commitment. Selection for volunteering or involvement in events and programmes will be based on individual merit, ability, and suitability.We will ensure that no one is disadvantaged or excluded due to protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.

6. Harassment and Discrimination

HSS will not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment, or discriminatory conduct. Anyone who experiences or witnesses such behaviour is encouraged to report it in confidence to a committee member or designated safeguarding officer. All concerns will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.

7. Training and Awareness

We will provide guidance, where appropriate, to committee members and volunteers to raise awareness of equality and diversity principles and to help implement this policy in day-to-day activities.

8. Monitoring and Review

We will review this policy regularly to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Feedback from users, volunteers, and community members is always welcome and helps inform improvements.
